The car only uses 10 per cent of the Zonda F's design, the rest was conceived from scratch. The 750bhp engine comes from the Mercedes AMG division, derived from the CLK GTR racer. Specifically designed for track use, the Zonda R will concede nothing to road practicality, according to Pagani.
What else to say then? The length measures 394mm and the width has also been increased, compared to “less” exclusive versions, while the weight still sits at 1,100 kg. Never was carbon so appreciated.
And then there’s the V12 6.0 litre engine at 705hp which will transport you into hyperspace at just 3.2 seconds to hit 100 km/hr, and a top speed of 400 km/hr. The price also inhabits its own twilight zone of 1.4 million euros. I wonder if the customer will reconsider his choice to place it in the living room. More shots after the jump.
That's because Pagani's Zonda R, a newly designed supercar (it shares only 10% of body components with the previous Zonda F) from the Italian automaker costs an eye-watering €1.2 million plus taxes. The Zonda R is equipped with a Mercedes-AMG CLK GTR 6.0-litre V12 engine that produces 551kW (750 hp) @ 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque figure of 710Nm.
Unless you win the Lotto, feast your eyes over these stunning hi-res renderings and drool like the rest of us!While we certainly cannot say the Zonda F lacks performance figures, driving around the Nürburgring in 7:32 and achieving lateral G forces of almost 1.5 G, it is however a road car, easy to drive, intuitive and setting the benchmark for comfort, safety and lightweight. Paired with a quality finish and the attention to detail this made the Zonda F one of the most desirable supercars resulting in the 25 Coupé models being sold out in record time.

In September 2006 the first drawings were ready, but it was crucial to have the support of Mercedes-AMG for a high revving engine with a power output of 750hp, dry sump, light and with a low centre of gravity. The basis was the self supporting engine of the mighty CLK GTR, which has dominated the GT championships. Eve at constant racing pace the engine would have to cover over 5.000 km before servicing. The challenge has been accepted without hesitation.
The Zonda R is a car designed from scratch, with only 10% of the Zonda F components to be carried over. The suspension forged in Avional, a new Pagani six speed transversal sequential gearbox, carbon fibre monocoque, aeronautical four pump fuel tank are only part of the equation
